The College of Hill Agriculture (CoHA) is the third constituent college of VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry which is spread in an area of 8.09 hectare at an altitudinal range of 1900-2300 m above mean sea level. The college is about 40 km away from Rudraprayag, 180 km from Rishikesh and 188 km from Dehradun. The geographical and climatic conditions of the region are considered to be suitable for cultivation of temperate fruit crops (walnut, apricot and chestnut), potato, medicinal & aromatic plants, etc. Presently the college at Chirbatiya is under construction, so, the classes of students registered in B.Sc. Agriculture (Honours) degree programmee are being held at the College of Forestry, Ranichauri, Tehri Garhwal. Apart from teaching the college is also involved in research and extension activities.

HISTORY:-

Agrarian conditions in hills are far different from those in plains. Recognizing the importance of hill agriculture in the state, the College of Hill Agriculture was inaugurated by then Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat at Chirbatiya, Rudraprayag on 24th September 2013. The land for this purpose was transferred by District Horticulture Department of Rudraprayag to the University on 21.09.2013. From November 2013, one year diploma course on Mali Training started at Chirbatiya and continued for two successive years. After this, B.Sc. Agriculture (Honours) degree programmee of College of Hill Agriculture started at College of Forestry, Ranichauri. At present, due to lack of infrastructure and other facilities at Chirbatiya, the degree programmee is running at Ranichauri.
